While the aging god Ra was fine-tuning his creations, humanity rebelled against him and though the Ancient Egyptian god eventually forgave the humans, he still refused to dwell amongst them.
Thus began Ra's daily journey to the Otherworld "Duat", where Ra created the 12 hours of day by sailing the sky aboard the morning boat "Mandjet" from the Eastern horizon to the West, illuminating the world and allowing all creations to flourish under his light.
Reaching the Western horizon, Ra then left the earth in darkness for 12 hours of night while he sailed the Duat, ferrying the souls of the dead aboard the evening boat "Mesektet" and regenerating himself in a union with Osiris, the god of resurrection.
This is the first of his Atet.
The Atet Yachts are an exercise devised to capture the spirit and essence of travelling along the Nile in Ancient Thebes and its significance as an integral component of the Ancient Egyptian way of life.
This project does not attempt to replicate or mimic what our ancestors created as we would simply fail to do it justice.
It only seeks to bring Ra's Atet (the Mandjet & its sister-ship the Mesektet) into the 21st century to host and delight our guests.
We hope you'll follow our journey as we bring these two mythical vessels to life.
